Our long standing Managing Director Malcolm Clarke steps aside to become Chairman, with Contracts Director Stuart Hardie taking the helm as new MD.
We are pleased to announce a planned leadership transition, with our Managing Director Malcolm Clarke stepping aside from the role after over 35 years at the helm. Our Contracts Director Stuart Hardie will take over as MD from 1st June 2026, ensuring continuity and stability for our clients, employees and supply chain.
Malcolm has played a pivotal role in shaping Baxall from its humble beginnings over 60 years ago as a family-run building firm into the highly respected £50m turnover company we are today. During his tenure, we have grown sustainably, strengthened long term client relationships and delivered high profile projects across London and the South East, from Net Zero in Operation new build schools and Grade II listed refurbishments to decarbonisation projects for the Met Police.
Reflecting on the transition, Malcolm commented:

This is the right time to hand over to the next generation of leadership, and I have every confidence that Stuart will continue to drive the business forward while staying true to our values.”
With over 25 years’ industry experience, Stuart joined Baxall in 2022 following senior roles with national Tier 1 contractors. Widely respected throughout our business and supply chain, he brings extensive operational and strategic insight to the role, strengthening governance and embedding best practice across health and safety, quality and commercial performance.
Commenting on his appointment, Stuart said:

This leadership change forms part of a carefully planned succession strategy and will not affect day to day operations or project delivery. Malcolm will remain with the business as Chairman, supporting the transition and continuing to contribute to our long term strategy.
