Managing Director
I’m studying for an HNC in Construction. This follows on from my apprenticeship with Baxall during which I successfully completed both a Diploma and NVQ qualifications.
To progress my studies, learn more from my colleagues and mentors and eventually run my own sites.
Working hands-on has given me a great deal of knowledge and experience to be able to carry out and understand my studies far better. My colleagues on site have given me lots of support ranging from demonstrations, task supervision and personal development challenges in addition to answering my many questions!
I enjoy the friendly and approachable environment at Baxall. Everyone is professional but personable too and there’s a real presence of teamwork.
I really enjoy carpentry and understanding the different elements of how a building comes together. I find it very rewarding when we complete and hand over a building to a happy Client; it reminds me of all the time and hard work we have all put in.
I am studying for a BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying.
I am looking forward to becoming a qualified Quantity Surveyor. Beyond this, my aim is to progress to Commercial Manager and ultimately become a Director.
I am placed within an operational team at Baxall and under the mentorship of a Senior Quantity Surveyor. This has been priceless in improving not only my understanding of the role but the processes involved throughout a project and the construction industry as a whole.
Baxall is a very friendly and welcoming company. There is a really heavy focus and encouragement on training and personal development for all employees, which I think is quite unique; they don’t just say, they do.
I find the construction industry really interesting as it’s constantly evolving with new approaches, techniques and technology. From my experience at Baxall as an Academy Trainee, I have worked across a number of departments and each discipline and project has shown and taught me different things.
