With the internal refurbishment works at Hastings Library nearing completion, the team are now focused on the external façade. Essential repairs and improvement works to the structure and historic stonework have necessitated a unique and complex scaffold structure to support the building load. The matrixed structure stretches down to the Library basement and provides a platform for our various specialist heritage contractors to carry out their works to the structure, stonework and windows, meeting conservation requirements to ensure this well-loved building can be appreciated by future generations. The building works are expected to complete this Winter, followed by the internal fit-out of furniture, computers and books. The Library is scheduled to re-open to the public in Spring 2018.
