A well-known and respected leader within the UK construction industry, Malcolm originally joined Baxall from John Laing as a Contracts Manager in the 1980s. Following a management buy-out, he became Managing Director and a business partner with Nigel and Jonathan in the early 1990s, Malcolm is a key figure with the NFB with whom he progressed to National Chairman. His involvement has included National and European Government level representation and ongoing support for SMEs and localism. Having introduced and engaged both a safety-conscious and BIM culture throughout Baxall, Malcolm has championed best practice and sustainable solutions and shares knowledge industry-wide through workshops, seminars and representation on local BIM and KPI Hubs. Malcolm’s commitment to continuous improvement and developing people to their full potential has been an intrinsic part of Baxall’s culture.

Nigel joined the family business from university where he worked alongside his father John Exall as a Project Manager. Since this time and with a career dedicated to Baxall and the industry, Nigel has developed extensive construction knowledge and a wealth of experience. Following the management buy-out in the early 1990s, Nigel undertook the role of Managing Director before becoming Chairman. A hands-on Director, Nigel leads Delivery Team 2 ensuring the delivery of high quality workmanship to zero defects and the safe completion of each project to time and budget. He leads by example, with a proactive approach to adding value at every stage and strong focus on client satisfaction, evident in Baxall’s significant level of repeat business, awards and recognition under the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Jonathan oversees the financial, commercial and marketing management of Baxall. Having joined the family business at an early age, Jonathan recognised an interest in the commercial elements of the company and subsequently pursued a career in financial management. His father’s (founder John Exall) retirement in the early 1990s led to the formation of a partnership with his brother Nigel and Malcolm with whom he structured and completed a management buy-out. Since this time, Jonathan’s role has evolved in parallel to Baxall’s significant growth including the development of the company Accounting, IT and Marketing Departments.

With a career dedicated to the industry and indeed Baxall, Chris began his journey as a Carpentry/ Joinery apprentice. Over his 26 years of employment with the company, he trained and progressed up to Site Manager and Contracts Manager levels before his appointment as a Contracts Director. Chris has applied his expertise and guidance to numerous Baxall projects including the procurement of traditional, framework and partnering forms of contract and the specialist leadership and management of a diversity of education and high quality residential projects across London and the South East.

Steve is an exceptional Contracts Manager who maintains extensive construction knowledge and experience. With a 33 year career dedicated to the industry, Steve has progressed to become a leading professional in his field, reflective in the achievement of numerous awards including CIOB Construction Manager of the Year (Bronze), the Stirling Prize winning Dulwich Picture Gallery and a further CIOB Bronze Medal for the highest DMX exam results. Steve leads by example, with a strong focus on client satisfaction and proactive approach to adding value to each and every project. His construction expertise extends to the successful delivery of award-winning projects utilising both BIM and modern methods of construction where his team have generated time, cost and sustainability efficiencies for clients and end-users alike.

With a career dedicated to the construction industry, Andrew began his journey as a joinery apprentice. Having learnt his trade he realised an interest in Estimating and subsequently Bid Management, securing senior roles in this respect with Haymills and Osborne before joining Baxall. Andrew’s role includes the management of Baxall’s bid and estimating function across all forms including Frameworks, traditional and modern methods of construction encompassing BIM software and modelling.
